About

The Great Adventure Lab is an after-school science enrichment program.  We’ve taught thousands of kids how to write their first robotics or video game programs (or both!). We do it all with a student-to-adult ratio of 7:1 for most classes. (You can find full descriptions, reviews and photos of all our classes and birthday parties at http://thegreatadventurelab.com.

Lego Engineers, Grades 1-2

Tue 4:00-5:00pm
Oct 16, 23, 30, Nov 20, 27, Dec 4, 11

Lego Engineers students learn and apply mechanical engineering concepts and create a wild amusement park ride, a go-cart, and, of course ... a catapult that launches Lego pieces! Students will  learn the physics behind levers, gears, pulleys, and other simple machines using LEGO® Education’s Simple Machines set. We’ll explore a new project each week and improvise on our designs to make our creations work in cool new ways!

Areas of Exploration: Engineering, Simple Machines, Physics.

Class Format: Seven 60-min. meetings, once per week.

Tuition: $130 per student; min 11 / max 14 students. Parent aide for full class gets free tuition.

Oct 15, 22, 29, Nov 5, 19, 26, Dec 3

Students will tackle challenges that real NASA engineers face, like how to land a rover on Mars without breaking it (not easy for astronauts -it’s like an egg drop on steroids!). We’ll also learn about hovercraft and try our hands at liftoff!!  Grab your astronaut helmets, since this class will take you OUT of this world!

Areas of Exploration: Engineering, Physics.

Class Format: Seven 60-min. meetings, once per week.

Tuition: $145 tuition plus $30 materials fee per student; min 11 / max 14 students. Parent aide for full class gets free tuition.
